Netscape 7.0
Settings (Required)
- Open Netscape Navigator.
- Select Edit > Preferences from the Netscape menu bar.
- Select Advanced.
- Check the boxes for Enable Java and XSLT.
- Select Cache.
- Click Every Time I view the page for Compare the page in the cache to the page on the network.
- Select Privacy and Security > Cookies.
- Click Enable all cookies. If you prefer to not receive cookies for your other web browsing, you may return to change these settings once you exit WebTycho. Browser preferences may be revised as often as you wish. See also Security and Privacy in WebTycho.
- Select Pop Window Controls.
Some course items in WebTycho are designed to open in a new window. While working in WebTycho, make sure Allow Popups is selected. Also, if you have a pop-up stopper program installed on your computer, it will prevent these content items from opening. Before you log into WebTycho, please turn this program off temporarily, and then turn it on again after logging out.
- Color settings should be Default. It is possible to make WebTycho's bottom blue navigation bar disappear if you change the color options in your browser preferences. To avoid this, leave the settings at Default.
To set the colors to Netscape defaults:
- Go to Edit, then click Preferences
- Select Colors under the Appearance menu
- Select Use Windows Colors.
- Uncheck the Always use my colors, overriding document.
- Click OK at the bottom of the window and then reload your page.
- If you wish to customize the colors you must make sure that the menu bar at the bottom of many pages in WebTycho is a dark color. The font color will always be white so a light gray or white background in the menu bar would make it either impossible or difficult to read.
Clear Cache Your computer stores copies of frequently accessed pages in the memory cache or disk cache. This way, the computer doesn't have to retrieve the page from the network each time you view it. This speeds reloading of pages that you have already visited. However in WebTycho, you should clear the cache regularly to increase your browser's performance and ensure that you get the most recent page.
